Because You Are Perfect For This!

I attended my church’ retreat this January. There’s a section of “God in The Midst of Pain”. The Pastor talked about how God uses our pain to certain reasons that we might never thought before. Talk about “PAIN” is a really sensitive issue. You might say that pain shows the negative characteristic of God. I was thinking that way too.

But, let’s pause here and watch this video (this is the video my Pastor showed in the end of the section i shared before)

Christopher Coleman

I used to be a kind of person who always ask WHY ME question. I would never allow my brain to accept the fact that God uses pain i get now to make us more like Him, to make us more intimate with Him, to make us long for heaven more, and to make us instrument of Gods’ comfort.

I hope you feel hopeless if you were that guy in the video; because that is how we used to respond pain.

But I have greater hope that you are blessed by the testimony he gave. And that is the way we actually have to see that as through his pain that guy are able to bless others, then it is possible and true that God allows the pain to us with certain means.

I have shared before that i was a kind of person who always asked WHY ME? for the pain i feel. And now i know the answer: Because i am perfect for this! Because you and the pain you have are perfect for this. We are more vulnerable to share the burden with people who ever went through that trial. It will be more alive testimony you heard from the person who ever been abused sexually but then healed by God’s comfort, if you also dealing with sexual abused as well and you are looking for comfort and healing.

My pain, your pain, are all means for something; something that is not about the negative characteristics of God because He does not have any.

Mainly, it want to say that I got this pain, and you got your pain are because we are perfect for that!

Love Letter to Him

Dear LORD….

I fall so in love with You! I am overwhelmed by Your love, till I can’t explain it. But the only thing I could think of right now is to type this letter for You! May the flow of my gratitude heart be a pleasing sacrifice for You! J

I see grace, as your humble love approaches me in my overly proud

I see grace, as your forgiveness still over my rebelliousness

This is the only thing I want to ask

That I will never be apart from you

Even just for an inch

Because you died so that I’m alive

And how would my life be without you

I long for your love to consume me everyday

As I really fall in love with you

I never and will never find someone who loves me like you do

Your love is perfect

It is greater than my parents love, my future spouse love

And even greater than my love for my own self

In your love I see faithfulness, selflessness and forgiveness

There’s nothing in this world that can ever satisfy my soul

Like what your perfect eternal love do

One hopeful truth I can find in that love is that

It will never fails and never gives up

It never runs out of me

Even when myself grieved for my lack of obedience

Your love that comforts me

When I feel frustrating failing in the same pit for years

Your love still there to pick me up

How couldn’t I’m overwhelmed by Your love?

I remember the passage “my flesh and my soul may fail. But God is the strength of my life and my portion forever”

For me I may lose my parents

I may lose my like-to-do things

I may lose my motivation in life

I may lose my passion to do good

But there’s one thing I would never ever want to be loss of

Is Your love

Because only in it I can feel so satisfied

I can see the Father I always longing for

I can found GRACE, the only thing that has made me deserve to freely and joyfully type down all these things to You! J

Time for a brief update. School of Biosciences collaborator Britt Koskella has now entered the wonderful world of blogging; she has posted quite a bit already on Nature’s Microcosm, including a paean to GoogleScholar (which I completely agree with). Although not yet featuring on her blog, a little birdie told me that Tiffany Taylor at Reading University is working on a book explaining evolution to children titled ‘Little Changes’. I’ll be reading that to my son in a couple of years for sure! Old Oxford drinking buddy Gavin Hubbard, medical biochemist turned science writer, has started a very cool blog on topics ranging from ecology to immunology: find Science Hubb here! His last post is titled ‘a dried up celibate kleptomaniac’ which is on rampant gene exchange in supposedly clonal bdelloid rotifers (not a rant about his old boss or something).

Finally, I had a meeting this…

It’s Sad but True: Here in This Country, People are Being Bought, Sold and Smuggled Like Modern-Day Slaves

humantrafficking-video

Today, most people usually think of slavery in terms of history classes they have taken, or movies they have seen. The fact is, modern slavery is just as real, just as brutal, and just as inhuman as any history book. Modern slavery controls, and in some cases claims, the lives of millions of people across the globe. To give you an idea of what exactly modern slavery looks like, I’ve put together this page, culling statistics from multiple sources to give you the best picture possible. I want to present you with modern slavery facts, so that you know exactly what it is we are facing now:

  • in 1850, the cost of a slave (in today’s dollars) was $40,000. In modern slavery, the price of a slave in $30.
  • 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across national borders each year.
  • According to the United Nations, profits from human trafficking rank it among the top three revenue earners for organized crime, after drugs and arms.
  • 80% of these are women and children.
  • most common type: debt bondage.
  • as many as 2.8 million children live on the streets, a third of whom are lured into prostitution within 48 hours of leaving home.
  • 12 to 14 is the average age of entry into pornography and prostitution.
  • the extreme fringe, children are kidnapped, held in remote camps, and chained at night to prevent their escape. They are put to work on road-building and stone-quarrying.
  • there are no clear distinctions between different forms of slavery. The same families and groups of people are often the victims of several kinds of modern slavery-for example, bonded labor, forced labor, child labor or child prostitution-with extreme poverty as a common linking factor.
  • child labor, often hard and hazardous, damages health for life, deprives children of education and the normal enjoyment of their early years.
  • forcible recruitment of children into military service has been reported in many parts of the world. The consequences are devastating. Many have died or been disabled in armed operations, while others have been interrogated, tortured, beaten, or kept as prisoners of war.

If there’s nothing you can feel about as you read this, maybe you start loosing your heart, just like what i did. This issue often time is seen as a government-thingy. But this is not only that.

Every single we walk across the streets, meet broken-hearted woman or man, see lots of kids on the streets; have you ever thought what their future gonna be looked like?  The number of human slavery and trafficking is increasing every single minute; it probably some day be with the people you see everyday. The question is how can we invest in this issue? how can we start?

For sure, we can do nothing. I also still figuring out what can i do to invest in this issue. But let’s start by PRAY! as from prayers come CONVICTION. Pray and ask God, while you keep loving people around you, be all wherever you are! God can do everything on a flip of hand. But He wants to invite me and you to be a part in this great-huge-global-fights!

What You Want for Christmas?

Lovely_illustration_little_girl_showing_family_drawing_to_parents_wallcoo.com

It has been 18 years something (my whole life time) when i never say these three Magic Phrase: thank you, sorry and i love you! to my parents.  I grew up in a good-and-happy-looking family. Everybody excepts us sees us like we are great family. But us, me my parents, my brothers know that we are not.

I grew up with a lot of hatreds towards my family as i always be beat up by my mom, be yelled up by my dad and all my brothers were being so mean to me. I grew up thought that i can be someone without them. Years and years i tried to prove it; learned so hard to get accepted in the best school in my hometown, without never said those three phrases.

But this year, God had brought me so crazily to realize how much my family loves me. No body is perfect; as well as my parents. They do love me but they also have imperfection in showed that love to me. In my imperfections as well, i had failed to recognize how hard my parents tried to show their love for me through single little thing they did.

Realizing that, God also convicted me to do something different this Christmas. What i got in my mind is to have one-on-one date with every single member of my family with different person each day. This is really a huge progress that i will make, because it is contrary in the other side on how i was being towards my family.

What about you? What are some goals you want to make as breakthrough things as you ended up this year? Try something you never try before! Imagine that this is your last Christmas and you only get one chance to do things you really want to do. For me, i will never waste the last chance just to make something i used to do. I want something CRAZY! 😀

How The Marshmallows Are Sooo Tempting!

Only the fools who ignore the existence of sins. No matter how old you are, baby or adult, girl or boy, employed or unemployed, are sinners; have the desire to “play with temptations” to tempt our own self with the sin. Once God said NO! we keep testing Him by dong the YES. These are some simple funny example of how man have no power to control themselves from being tempted.

I do not know how many of you laughed when watched these videos. But let us go further than the funny things and learn something more deeply that just for the Marshmallow, we are tempted so easily. There are greater things than the marshmallow that always tempt us: our SINS. So, lets keep perseverance and endurance in always and consistently fight against the flesh desire.

We Need Mirror

To see our reflection we need a mirror and another basic component – light.  If we stand in front of a mirror in complete darkness we won’t see our reflection.  In partial light our reflection is vague.  If we want a true reflection of ourselves we need to place ourselves under full light.  Alternatively, if we want to imagine we are film star material, we should stand in dim light, hide our flaws and show our best side.

In order to see a true reflection of our spiritual self we need a mirror and light.  The mirror is the Word of God and the light is God Himself.  We may have the mirror (Bible) and look into it every day, but unless we have a personal relationship with God and let Him light up all facets of our spiritual life, then we won’t see ourselves as we truly are (a mirror is no good in darkness).  Without God’s light we can easily hide the flaws and emphasize only our best side.  We may convince many people we are spiritual superstars, but God knows we are just another ugly Christian who refuses to step into the light.
